Dance School Testimonials

Darcy Dann

I danced with Miss Julie from when I was just 3 years old, to 18 years, so it's safe to say that Bell-Rose Academy of Dance was the most constant part of my childhood and transition into adulthood, and I wouldn't change that for the world. Studying with Miss Julie was absolutely wonderful, I not only enjoyed the dancing so much, but paying attention to the technique in dance has helped me so much in the course I am in now.

I study at the University of Ballarat, doing a bachelors degree in Music Theatre. In my course we do tap, jazz, and ballet, and having been with Miss Julie for so long I found I had a huge advantage going into the course, as my knowledge and understanding of the right technique to use when dancing was above average amongst my peers. There is no way my love for performing would have been ignited if it weren't for Miss Julie.

I enjoyed dancing in our end of year concert's more than I enjoyed Christmas Day, and the friend's that I made throughout the years in my classes I will be friends with for life. The classes always had such a warm and accepting vibe, while Miss Julie still taught us about the appropriate discipline that is required for ballet. I never felt uncomfortable in a class, I always felt driven to try my best and to achieve my potential. Miss Julie has been one of the most inspiring adult figures in my life, and I will use the skills I have obtained through Bell-Rose Academy, which are both physical and mental, for the rest of my life.

My experiences with Bell-Rose Academy of Dance over 12 years have been phenomenal.

I had danced and tried out other schools before finding Bell-Rose Academy of Dance, and I can honestly say not one of them has been able to compare with the friendly, loving and welcoming vibe that comes from Bell-Rose Academy of Dance.

What I love about the dance classes at Bell-Rose Academy of Dance is that they are always different; every time you walked into the studio there was always a different routine to learn or different exercise to strengthen our dance talents.

What I also found different to other schools was that each student was given the individual help they needed to encourage and inspire them instead of focusing on just the top students.

Bell-Rose Academy of Dance has been like a second family to me, I have made lifelong friends, not just with my fellow dancers but also with the amazing teachers.

Miss Julie was integral to my career in dance. She is a passionate teacher - one that not only taught me the fundamentals in technique, discipline and artistry; but also exposed me to opportunities that shaped me as a dancer and person. Without her, I would not have been able to dance with companies and schools such as The Australian Ballet, The Royal Ballet and Singapore Dance Theatre.

The Bell-Rose Academy of Dance is a place where passion and enjoyment come together. This has been my experience with Miss Julie, having studied with her for about ten years, and now as a parent whose daughter is presently enrolled.

Miss Julie has seen my sister and I grow from young girls into adulthood, always encouraging us to aim higher and to never give up. With Miss Julie, we have learnt to be leaders, organisers and multi-taskers. We gained the valuable gifts of discipline and persistence in our practice, classes, exams and performances, all of which we now take into our adult lives.

Dance lessons with Miss Julie also become life lessons. She is loyal, committed and caring as a second mother to her students. We still receive birthday cards every year! She is generous with her time, her knowledge and her love of dance, and this can only be beneficial for others.

Thank you, Miss Julie.
